SNF Tennis Club
Executive Board Meeting
Nov 11, 2019 in the Magnolia Room
Meeting was called to order at 4:00 by
President Don Harrington.
Attendees were Richard Brown, Joan
Martin, Don Harrington, Ann Sowle, and Wade Wilkerson.
Absent were Joan Axtt, Terrance Black,
Catherine Harrington, Bob Dougherty, Mark Eshleman, and Bonny DeSiro
Harrington submitted his and his wife
Catherine’s resignation from the SNF Tennis Club since they have
moved out of the SNF resort.
Wilkerson moved that Richard Brown be
president. Martin seconded the motion. The motion was approved
unanimously.
Harrington spoke with Activities last
spring and requested dates for our three banquets. Dates requested
were selected in coordination with Bonnie DeSiro. Dates were in
early December, mid January, and late March. Venues requested for
the first two banquets were either Cypress, Pavilion, or Woodland
Hall. Venue requested for the last banquet was Woodland Hall. Brown
needs to check with activities to determine what dates and venues
have been assigned.
Harrington contacted the Activities
Department and requested that the Magnolia Room be reserved for SNF
Tennis Executive Board meetings on the first Monday of November and
December 2019, and January, February, and March of 2020. Activities
dropped the request for November--the room was locked and we were not
shown on the room reservation schedule. Follow up by Brown is
recommended.
With Catherine Harrington’s
resignation, it was necessary to establish a lead for the Homecoming
Parade and the Social Committee. Brown said he and Brian Sproston
are willing to head the Parade activity. Brown will ask Terry and
Paula Cooper or Rosemary Schmidt to head the Social Committee.
Wilkerson announced he is not going to
teach beginning tennis due to the SNF Manager’s absurd decree last
year, namely: one could not be a chairman if not sleeping overnight
in the resort.
Brown will determine a start date for
the fall ladder. A carton of balls for the Tuesday ladder is in the
shed.
The ball machine remote is not working.
Brown will manage getting it fixed.
The Board was receptive to getting
first aid and AED instructions from Howard Quinn. Brown will set up
dates.
Appreciation was expressed for Don
Harrington’s leadership over the past few years. He responded
that he hoped that when he died, the Tennis Club would put a brick in
the Memorial Walk for him.
Meeting was adjourned at 4:40 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Wade W. Wilkerson, Secretary
