Tennis Board Meeting – December 5, 2016
MEMBERS PRESENT: Don Harrington, Allen Burt, Joan Axtt, Bill Webb, Marge Webb,

SECRETARY’S report: The minutes of Nov. 8th meeting were read and approved.
TREASURER’S report: Joan reported a balance of $403.30. $345.00 was taken in for membership. $75.67 was spent for the tennis social. Balance as of today $672.63.
New Business:
Bonnie DeSiro asked to be a member of the Board to ensure that the Wed. ladder was represented. Don Harrington made a motion to accept Bonnie as a member. It was seconded and passed unanimously.
Don reported that the new net for court 4 had to be used on court 6. The screens for courts 4-6 are a little short but will be centered. A work day on Dec. 6 to put up the screens is planned. Bonnie and Cathy volunteered to clean out the sheds and check on refurbishing any first-aid kits that are stored in the sheds.
It was decided that court 3 would be available for pickleball on Mon., Wed., and Fri. from 8 am – 12 pm. On Tues. and Thurs., social tennis is 8 am – 12 pm on court 3.
Courts 1-2: open from 8 am -10 am. Social tennis 10 am – 12 pm.
Courts 4-5: open from 8 am – 10 am. Social tennis 10 am – 12 pm.
Court 6 : Social tennis 9 am – 12 pm.
Terrence Black reported on the tournament being held Dec. 8-10. There are 16 players in two groups. One group on cts. 1-2 and one group on cts. 5-6, both beginning at 9:15 am. Saturday, the Woodstorks would play their finals matches starting at 8:30 am on courts 1-2. Fireants’ consolation match for third place would begin at approximately 11:30 am with the first place match immediately following. There are new rules to be implemented with this tournament on a trial basis. On Thursday, four games will be played with every partner for a total of 28 games. The second deuce will be game point. The banquet on Saturday evening will be in Woodland Hall. Menu will be pizza, salad and cupcakes. A 50/50 raffle will be included.
Cathy Harrington reported on the tennis club’s entry into the Homecoming Parade of Feb. 4, 2017. The theme is fairy tales, and the tennis club has chosen the “The Little Mermaid” as their focus. $200.00 was allocated for supplies.
Joan asked if we would like to pack care boxes for our troops, like we did a couple of years ago. Everyone agreed. Publicity will go out to the membership and announced at the Dec. banquet concerning this project.
The next meeting will be Jan. 9, 2017 at 3:15 pm in the Pine Room.
Bill moved and Bonnie seconded that this meeting be adjourned at 3:50 pm.
