Executive Board Meeting, April 4, 2016

Executive Board Mtg
Sun N Fun Tennis Assoc.
 April 4, 2016 4:00
Members present: Don Harrington, Alan Burt, Mary Lou Zakrzewski, Joan Axtt, Cathy Harrington, Bill Webb, Marge Webb, Ann Sowle, Mark Eshleman, Terry Black, and Larry Day.

Outgoing officers present: Carol Dougherty, and Russell Bretz

Minutes from the March 7th meeting and the General meeting on March 19th were read and accepted.

The Treasurers report was read and Joan Axtt stated that the balance is $424. 54.

The Homecoming Parade for next season was discussed. The theme is Fairy Tales. It was decided that Cathy would send out an e-mail to the members telling them the idea of The Little Mermaid and asking for other ideas and help with costumes etc. so that we could have a good showing next year.

Don has gotten approval from the office and has ordered a new crank for court 6 and a new net for Court 4. We discussed windscreens; the type to buy,  and whether we should take them all down at the end of the season. Don will talk to to the office about whether they want to take down the windscreens on courts 1-3, and to order a new windscreen for court 6.

Tournaments:  Terry Black suggested that we could shorten the number of games from 35 to 28 by playing 4 games for each match instead of 5 and eliminate the 7 point tiebreaker game. Don suggested that if we do this we could play one deuce and then a game point on the second deuce rather the current deciding point on the first deuce.  The tournament committee will consider this and possibly play the December tournament this way to see how it works out

A motion was made and seconded to drop ratings. A vote was taken and all were in favor.

Carol Dougherty brought up that the lights on courts 1-3 are somewhat inadequate.  Don will add this matter to his list to discuss with the Sun N Fun office.

A motion to adjourn was made and seconded All in favor. Mtg adjourned at 4:50.

This was the final meeting of the season.  The next meeting will be on  November 7.  Time and place TBD.

Submitted by Secretary Mary Lou Zakrzewski, President Don Harrington
