Board Meeting December 9, 2019

SNF Tennis Club Executive Board Meeting December 9, 2019 in the Cottage  The meeting was called to order at 2:30 PM by President Brown.  Attendees were Joan Axtt, Terrence Black, Richard Brown, Larry Day, Mark Eshleman, Joan Martin, Ann Sowle, and Wade Wilkerson. Absent was Bonny DeSiro. Minutes from the prior meeting were read.  No corrections were noted. Joan Axtt reported that the balance from last year was $698.01.  Recent expenses were $79.42 for tennis balls for the ladder.  The 50-50 raffle netted $105.00. So, the current balance is $723.59.  December tournament receipts and expenses are pending. Larry Day has agreed to teach Beginning Tennis.  Richard Brown will adjust the blurb in the Lifestyle Menu. Terrence Black and Joan Martin agreed to manage the mixed doubles tournament.  There was an agreement to make each round either the first team to win three games or if the teams are tied at two-all, then they are to play a 7 point Coman tiebreaker. Dates for the coming tournaments are:      Jan 16 and 18. The banquet will be chicken kabobs and potluck dishes     March 19 and 21.  The banquet will be at Woodland Hall     Feb 22 Mixed Doubles Brian Sposston and Joan Martin will coordinate roles and responsibilities for the Homecoming Parade which is Feb 1. The “Thursday ladder” will continue on Thursday, Dec 12 and Tuesday, Dec 17.  The ladder will resume in 2020 as the “Tuesday Ladder” and will start on January 7.  Cutoff for changes will revert to 5 PM Sunday. The opinion poll from the December tournament dinner was noted.  Spectators enjoy the sociability of watching both the consolation and the finalist matches and prefer them to be in series.  However, when the weather is hotter, the players will determine whether the matches are in series or concurrent. Bonnie is to check on the shed and electricity by Courts  Brown will contact DeSiro and others regarding if and how the Wednesday ladder will be done.
