Executive Board Minutes for Feb 4, 2019
Location Pine Room, Sun-n-Fun

Attendees: Terry Black, Richard Brown, Bonnie DeSiro, Mark Eshleman, Scott Foster, Don Harrington, Ann Sowle, Wade Wilkerson

Members not present: Joan Axtt, Bob Dougherty, Cathy Harrington,

  1. D. Harrington called the meeting to order at 3:07 p.m.
  2. Sowle read the Jan 7, 2019 minutes which were then accepted by acclamation.
  3. Harrington said Axtt reported that $83 had been spent for tennis balls and the current balance is $839.59. That balance does not include the homecoming parade bills which are yet to be received.
  4. DeSiro reported that she had talked with the activities lead, Debbie Foster, and they will put a shed near the court 1 gate and electrify it for charging the ball machine.
  5. It was agreed that we no longer need the old tennis shed by the pavilion. Action: Harrington will give the shed to another SNF activity.
  6. The tennis group won the “Most Creative” prize in the SNF Homecoming Parade which occurred on Feb 2 with the theme “Trivial Pursuits.” There were 12 parade entrants and five categories. The Petanque group won the best overall prize with the theme “Monopoly.”
  7. Eshelman will ensure that courts 1 and 2 are used for the Thursday tennis ladder.
  8. Social tennis will be on Courts 4, 5, and 6 on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Subsequent to the meeting, it was decided that tennis needs to increase the presence on courts 1 and 2. It was decided to move social tennis to courts 1 and 2. Starting next week (11 Feb) social tennis will be on Courts 1 and 2 on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
  9. The Feb tournament will be Feb 7 and 9th. Black said 32 players have been arranged in eight groups. Desiro said they are planning on 60 attendees at the banquet at Woodland Hall on the 9th. Happy hour will start at 5 p.m. and dinner will be at 6.
  10. The March tournament is March 14-16 with the banquet in Woodland Hall.
  11. It was agreed to allocate a budget of $200 for the mixed doubles tournament which will be March 1.
  12. The next meeting will be at 3:00 on March 4, 2019, in the Pine Room.
  13. The meeting was adjourned at 3:58 p.m.
