Minutes November 12, 2018

SNF Tennis Club
Executive Board Minutes for Nov 12, 2018
Location Magnolia Room, Sun-n-Fun

Attendees: Don Harrington, Cathy Harrington, Richard Brown, Bonnie DeSiro, Wade Wilkerson
Members not present: Joan Axtt, Terry Black, Bob Dougherty, Mark Eshleman, Scott Foster, Ann Sowle.
  1. D. Harrington called the meeting to order at 3:07 p.m.
  2. The minutes of the April 2, 2018 meeting were read. D. Harrington moved they be approved and DeSiro seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
  3. D. Harrington reported that a work party installed the windscreens. New clips were used on the tops of 1, 2, 4, 5, and half of 6. Zip ties were used at the bottom. The new metal clips appear to be much more substantial than the zip ties.
  4. The Court 1 sinkhole has been repaired.
  5. Courts 1 and 2 are to be resurfaced in the next two weeks.
  6. From now to December 31, Social tennis will be on Courts 5 and 6 on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and it will start at 9:00 a.m.
  7. Tournaments dates have been established with the SNF office. They are:
    1. Dec 6-8 with the banquet in Woodland Hall.
    2. Jan 24-26 with the banquet in the Cypress Room.
    3. March 14-16 with the banquet in Woodland Hall.
  8. D. Harrington and Gary Novak moved memorial bricks for four deceased tennis-members to the area where other tennis members’ bricks are located. It was not known if a brick for Al Saddel is somewhere in the memorial garden.
  9. The prior SNF manager, Shawn, said they would give the Tennis Club a new shed by court six since they expropriated Court 3 from the Tennis Club and made it into pickleball courts. The new shed was to have had electrical power for the ball machine. The new manager (Janie) said SNF is short on funds and they cannot afford to supply a new shed but will equip the little shed currently by Court 6 with electrical power. In discussion it was noted that the existing shed is a) moldy, b) currently is used for storing benches, nets, and umbrellas, and c) undersized for storing the ball machine and baskets of balls. Bonnie DeSiro will investigate the cost of a storage shed and propose cost sharing with SNF management.
  10. The Tuesday ladder will be moved to Tuesday until the end of December.
  11. Bonnie DeSiro will start the Wednesday ladder in January 2019.
  12. Two new umbrellas are needed for Courts 4, 5, 6.
  13. The windscreens on Court 3 were salvaged and will be used on Court 4 as needed.
  14. Wilkerson reported that a work order has been submitted with the SNF office to replace the lights in the Court 6 Restroom and Paint the door frame and step.
  15. We discussed renumbering the courts since we’ve lost Court 3. We decided not to renumber them.
  16. The next meeting will be at 3:00 on Dec 3, 2018 in the Magnolia Room.
  17. The meeting was adjourned at 3:59 p.m.
Respectfully submitted, Nov 16, 2018
Wade W. Wilkerson, Secretary

With concurrence of Don Harrington, President
