Tennis Executive Board Meeting
March 5, 2018
Members present: Don Harrington, Cathy Harrington, Bob Dougherty, Larry Day, Mark Eshleman, Mary Lou Zakrzewski, Terry Black, Richard Brown
Members absent: Ann Sowle, Joan Axtt, Bonnie DeSiro, Scott Foster
The Secretary’s report from the Feb 5 meeting was read and accepted.
The Treasurers report was discussed. The current balance is $811.13 but this does not include funding of approximately $75 for the mixed doubles tournament.
Old Business :
Don met with Sean Rankin to discuss putting a new shed with power for the ball machine next to court 6. The movement of the ball machine is necessitated due to the loss of Court 3 to Pickleball. Sean said he would get this done. Also Don asked if the sink-hole at the back of court one could be repaired and if possible Courts 1 and 2 resurfaced. Sean said he would get a quote on the cost and that it might be reasonable as they will be resurfacing and painting Pickleball lines on Court 3 this summer.
Since we are losing Court 3, Don asked that the backboard on court three be moved to court four. This has actually been done but unfortunately the backboard was installed over the screen such that the screen cannot be removed or rolled up. Don has asked Lifestyles to do the following:
-Take down the backboard (Court 4) and remove the long screen
-Replace the backboard
-Remove the 2 short screens on Court 3 and move them to Court 4 adjacent to the backboard
-Install the long screen from Court 4 on Court 3 where the backboard was.
Richard bought synthetic rope to be used on the screens. It was approved that he buy two more packages and they would be used on the screens next Fall.
New Business:
The March Tournament will be on March 22-24. The banquet will be at Woodland Hall. The menu will be chicken Parmesan, salad and garlic bread. Dessert will be strawberry shortcake. There will also be appetizers and wine. Members will pay $6.00 Non-Members $10.00. Happy hour will be 4:30-5:30. Dinner at 5:30. The general meeting and voting for officers and board members will take place. Following the banquet at 7:00 there is the free dance.
Cathy said the tennis group will use the game,Trivial Pursuit for next seasons parade. She will send an email to all letting them know more details.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:15.
